In Loving Memory of
Mary Ann Van Valkenburg
April 24, 1936 – December 20, 2020
This Christmas, we celebrate the joyful homecoming of our beloved mother and grandmother. On December 20, 2020, Mary Ann Van Valkenburg was reunited in glory with her husband, Ron; her children, Mark and Cheryl; her son-in-law, Kevin; and her grandchildren, Bailey and Miles. After 84 years of God’s faithfulness, she laid down her battle with dementia to begin life eternal with her Savior, Jesus!
Born to loving parents, Gerald and Connie Van Spronsen, she was the youngest of 4 children and the only daughter. Raised on a farm, she was hard-working, creative, and devoted to serving others. For almost 60 years, she faithfully loved and served her husband, Ron, and their 7 children. She ran a busy household, loved playing the organ and serving at church, used her creativity to make jewelry and note cards, and hosted people from around the world in their home.
Most importantly, Mary was a steadfast follower of Jesus. Although she experienced many of this life’s trials and grief, Christ was faithful. Mary celebrated her victory in Jesus and the struggles that she experienced became her testimony to God’s grace and faithfulness in her life as she taught Bible studies and mentored women in their walk with God.
Mary is dearly loved by her surviving 6 children, 24 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Today, we celebrate the grace of God as she stands in his presence with her body and mind fully restored. To God be the glory!
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8
