Mildred Beatrice Trimble

September 16, 1925 ~ November 25, 2023

MICKEY (MILDRED) SPURRIER TRIMBLE, aged 98, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, with her daughter at her side. She is survived by her two children: son, William Spurrier, of Charlotte, Michigan, and daughter, Patricia (Lloyd) Wheeler, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; six grandchildren, Cindy Faber, Carey Gyger, Rani Young, Colleen Woolpert, Steve Young, Jamie Young; 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edward Spurrier; her second husband of 10 years, Roy Trimble; her parents, Raymond and Beatrice Trice; sister, Pearl Sikes; and companion, Lyle Etcher. Mickey was born on September 16, 1925, in the small town of Barnesville, Georgia, where she grew up with her parents and older sister. After graduating from Milner High School, she took a vacation to Gainesville, Florida, where she met a handsome WWII pilot from Michigan on the beach. They fell in love, married, and set out on the adventure of a lifetime. Together Mickey and Ed traveled the country, eventually settling in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where they raised their two children. More travel followed, including a special trip to Japan and Hawaii. Mickey loved entertaining, spending time with family and friends, and gardening. A sports fan, she played basketball and tennis as a teen, bowled as an adult, and enjoyed a game of cards or watching the Lions until her last days. Following the death of her first husband, Mickey was able to rekindle her warmth and share her love by marrying again. Throughout her life, she lit up every room with her contagious smile and would often crack up laughing with tears in her eyes. People were drawn to her warmth and kindness and enjoyed her sense of humor, spunk, and optimism. She’ll be remembered by her loving family and friends for these qualities as well as the sparkle in her eye and her trademark wink. The family will gather for a private burial, with a celebration of Mickey’s life to be held at a later date.

Boy Oh Boy Mildred has passed. My Friend told me the news. I remember the time during one of my games you shot a layup and air-balled. The ball hit someones head and gave them brain damage. Those were the good times. RIP Mildred

Aunt Mickey your smile and laughter are two qualities I admired most about you. Your sweet gentle nature and compassion are something I have always wanted in life. You will be forever missed. Give uncle Ed and my grandpa a big hug.
