Patricia Mildred Truby

February 2, 1936 ~ April 13, 2024

Patricia Mildred Truby, age 88, of Caledonia was called home by her Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 13, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 2, 1936 to the late Maurice and Mildred Dean. She was predeceased by a sister, Priscilla (Tomas) O’Neill, brother, Kendall James Israel Dean. Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Dale; three sons, David (Jennifer), Dennis (Jeannie), Dana Truby; six grandchildren, Suzanna (Blake) Roy, Benjamin (Carrie) Truby, Michelle (Adam) Long, Samuel Truby (Kelsey Sloop), Brian (April) Truby, Julia Truby; five great-grandchildren, Emmett Truby, Lorelei Long, Colton Roy, Maeve Long and Henry Truby. Also surviving is a brother, Nelson (Patty) Dean; three nieces, Diane (Kevin) Ousley, Karen (Gary) Hartich, Kimberly (Robert) Sims; and a nephew, Timothy (Tonia) Dean.

Everyone who met Patricia knew her beautiful blue eyes and engaging smile that drew them in and made them feel like the most important person in her world. She always had a positive perspective and found the best in everyone. She was a proud graduate with a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University. She married Dale, her childhood friend, and they had a beautiful marriage, caring for each other in so many ways. They resided in Royal Oak, Michigan for many years before enjoying the country lifestyle in Otisville, Michigan, recently moving to Caledonia, Michigan. She loved gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking and every time family or friends were together. She mentored numerous 4th grade girls by teaching Sunday School at Ferndale Nazarene Church for over 30 years. Patricia also volunteered over 5000 hours at Greenfield Village in various roles including sewing in Period Clothing and as a Docent.

Visitation will be noon on Thursday, April 18, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia MI with funeral services at 1:00 P.M. A private burial ceremony will be held at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
