Patricia Ann (Bechtel) Oldfield, age 92, of Grandville, was called home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Pat was born to Harry and Flora (Hunter) Bechtel who preceded her in death. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a dedicated prayer warrior. Pat was blessed with the gift of conversation. She could talk to anyone and usually the conversation led to a lasting friendship. Pat and Barney were charter members of Georgetown United Methodist Church. She served her Lord with her time and talents in many ways. She was the church historian. She grew up singing in various choirs and especially enjoyed the church choir. Pat loved singing! Pat worked various jobs outside the home while her kids were in school, establishing many friendships along the way. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years, Barney; children, Pattilyn and Ronald McCarty, Barney Oldfield II (Brenda Alberta), Pam and Jack Cronkright; 6 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was a special mother to many and a grandmother to as many children as she could meet. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Georgetown United Methodist Church, 2766 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Pastor Sherri Swanson officiating. Burial to be held at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, March 6, from 3-6 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice.
