Peter “Randy” VandenBerg

Peter Randall “Randy” VandenBerg, age 78, of Wyoming, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Friday, July 5, 2024. Peter earned his bachelor's degree at Calvin College and taught fifth grade in Sparta Middle School for 32 years. After his retirement from Sparta Schools, he went on to instruct student teachers at GVSU for another 12 years. He was active in his church, holding the office of deacon numerous times, and serving a term as elder. He coached Pinery Park Little League for 27 years, taking the 1982 All-Star Team all the way to the Little League World Series where they finished in third place. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Eileen K. VandenBerg; children, Amy and Troy Schreur, Steven and Lisa VandenBerg; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jan and Bob Gross; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Roger Groenboom officiating. Burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
