Navarro – Ramon “Ray” Navarro aged 89 of Kentwood passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Eulojia Navarro; stepsons, Patrick Shaffer, Tom Shaffer Jr., Timmy Navarro; brothers, Felix, Epifano, Martin; sisters, Emilia, Mary Lou, Juanita, Dora, Lola, Fina, Amada, Rafaela; Elisa. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Janet; children, Felix (Ly) Navarro, Rachel (Robert) Garza, Thelma Gonzales; stepson, Kenneth Navarro; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Paulette (Keith) Burdick, Mark (Janice) Bigelow, Sandi (Bob) Dean, Dirk (Lori) Bigelow. Funeral services will be held 11:00 at Community Christian Reformed Church, 150 Burt St. SE. Ramon’s family will greet relatives and friend from 5PM to 7PM at Stegenga Funeral Chapel – Wyoming, 3131 S Division Ave. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Ray served in the United States Airforce later joining the US Army and serving during the Korean conflict where he was an aircraft mechanic and flight instruction for flight clubs. He worked for American Flyers. He retired from Gerald R. Ford Airport as a FAA Inspector. After retiring he went to Wichita, KA where he taught flight safety and was a simulator instructor.
