Robert Arnold Sundholm, Jr., passed away Friday, June 10th, at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, tended by family and surrounded by loving support. He was born in Ludington, Michigan on March 10, 1934, to Arnold Sundholm and Lucille LaBelle. He attended school in Ludington and then entered the United States Air Force after graduating from its Academy. He was a combat veteran of the Viet Nam War. Bob traveled extensively with the Air Force, living in Alaska, Texas, Greenland, Germany, and England, among other places. After retiring from the Air Force in 1982, he became the administrator of the Village House assisted living facility in Ludington, before retiring. He was Uncle Bob to many devoted nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Sundholm; granddaughter, Wendy Bradley; and sister, Kris (Jim) Riva. Bob loved to read, golf, solve crossword puzzles, watch PBS, drink Manhattans, visit “The Compound”, and listen to Neil Diamond. He cared deeply about his family, friends, community, and country. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 501 E Danaher St. in Ludington, Michigan with Fr. Mick Shriver officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 10-11 am at the church prior to the service. Sorry I have to start again, but this must be said completely as Bob was a wonderful person, so here goes. When Bob left his earthly life, it wasn't the end. As Bob walked along the Path not knowing where it led, he finally saw a glowing white light .As he followed the light Bob saw the Golden Gates. As he went closer, he saw St. Peter who opened the gate so he could enter. As Bob and St. Peter walked into heaven, in the distance Bob saw God waiting for him. As Bob and St. Peter approached, God opened his arms and took Bob in his embrace, and then said "Welcome Home" my son. I have plans for you.

Stephanie, my wife and I are truly sorry for your loss. it was so pleasant getting to know you and Bob more intimately then my many years of service with him on the Advisory Council of AAAWM. We enjoyed our lunch time together with you and Bob at the most recent annual meeting of the Area Agency on Aging of West Michigan in Grand Rapids at the Calvin Prince Center. I will truly miss serving with him, and experiencing his passion for advocacy of senior issues.
