Robert Haveman

November 12, 1937 ~ March 18, 2024

Robert Haveman, age 86, of Allendale, went to be with his Lord on Monday, March 18, 2024. Bob lived a peaceful and quiet life that honored the Lord. He did not seek the spotlight; rather, he demonstrated the Fruit of the Spirit in the way he lived: love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, and self-control. If you knew Bob, you know these words describe him and it would be his hope that you saw God’s love for you through his life. We already miss him, but we know he has been made whole again, and we have the assurance of being reunited with him one day. Praise God for such a promise that was made through His Son’s sacrifice. Bob would want you to know Jesus. He would want you to experience a full and amazingly ordinary life; a life where you can love God and love and disciple others. He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Edwin and Betty Bergsma, Leonard Bergsma; parents, Wesley and Julia Haveman; parents-in-law, Obbe and Frances Bergsma; and grandson, Jonathan Haveman. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Joyce; two sons, David and Tammie Haveman, Matt and Hope Haveman; six grandchildren, Gillian, Obbe, Violet, Ty, Sumner, and Max; brothers, Roland and Diane Haveman, Doug and Ruth Haveman; sister-in-law, Donna Bergsma; and special cousin, Jerry Swanger. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Calvary Church, 707 E. Beltline NE, Grand Rapids, with Pastor Jim Samra officiating. Burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Thursday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Calvary Church Missionary Fund.

Remember Bob well as a quite faithful leader. Sorry we will not be able to attend the service as we are out of town on vacation. Wish I was there to help with the service. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

What a wonderful testimony of Bob’s life. I will always remember Deacon Bob as he encouraged me as a young Deacon at Calvary Church. He was a faithful servant of the Lord. Doug & Judi Lipinski

What a touching testimony of Bob's life, living each day for the Lord and being a witness to His loving mercy. May Bob rest in peace and we pray that his legacy lives on so that many others come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Such a wonderful and kind man that I had the pleasure of working with at Sysco for many years. I used to run into him in Allendale and he always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. Will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
