Robert Lucas

Robert John Lucas, age 84, of Grandville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy; parents, Tom and Anna Lucas; daughter-in-law, Shari Lucas; siblings, Nellie and Arthur Lucas, Jake and Ester Lucas, Tom and Betty De Haan, Harold and Bertha Lucas, Esther and Henry Betten, Ada Rillema. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Mark and Linda Lucas, Tim and Sally Lucas, Jack Lucas; grandchildren, Andy and Janelle Lucas, Josh and Bethany Lucas, Trevor and Abby Lucas, Dylan Lucas, Kaleigh Lucas, Jared Lucas, Alissa Lucas; many great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Pennell, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harv and Bev Mulder, Dale Sundstrom, Marv and Lois Van Heuvelen, Gladys and Ralph Powney, James and Wilma DeRuiter, Mel and Donna Mulder, Bern and Ruth Mulder, Bob and Leah Mulder, Jerry and Judy Mulder, Harley Rillema; and many nieces and nephews. Bob proudly served his country in the National Guard and also served as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Grandville for 25 years. He loved to play golf, was an active member of the YMCA, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. with Pastor Don VanSlyke officiating. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday, September 19, from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Visser Family YMCA.
