Roger J. Nordyke, age 87, of Hudsonville, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Roger was a kind and devoted dad and grandpa who treasured his family. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He attended Michigan State University and was a dedicated Spartans fan. Roger humbly gave of his time and talents serving his community in various ways. Blessed with a strong work ethic, he began his career in banking at Byron State Bank and retired from NBD Bank after 40 years of faithful service. He was active in the local AMBUCS chapter, serving as President from 1969-1970 as well as the Byron Center Lion’s Club and the Kiwanis Club. Roger loved spending time outdoors, especially golfing and fishing. Above all, his faith in God and devotion to his family will be a legacy that will be forever cherished. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ed Noordyke, Coral Haga, and Lucille Kikstra. Roger is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Lisa Nordyke, Kim and Mitch Hunter; grandchildren; Haleigh York, Ethan York, Nolan York, and Michael Okon; siblings, Joe and Karen Nordyke, Joanne Gilmore; several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 1-2 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan or to Mel Trotter Ministries.
