Rose Mary Reed

Rose Mary (Gummere) Reed, age 94, of Jenison, has completed her life on this earth and has entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior, as her faith assured her, on Friday, November 18, 2022. Rose Mary had such a deep love for her family and they for her. In addition to being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was an avid reader, visiting Grandville Public Library frequently, looking for that perfect mystery novel. She was a lover of all animals, especially of her dear Westies, Tika, Rob Roy, and Meghan. Rose Mary enjoyed drawing, painting, singing, and playing the piano. She will be remembered for her selflessness, her caring soul, and keen wit. Her life was a true blessing to many. Her family is rejoicing that they will see her again one day in the presence of Jesus! She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ella Reed of Terre Haute, Indiana; and her beloved grandson, Nicholas Gummere. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Jim Gummere; daughter, Becky and Brian Walters; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Amy and Don Hager (Shea, Cade), Zarisa Gummere (Audrey), Joy and Mike Mehling (Brett, Gina, Leah), Elizabeth Gummere; her precious Westie, Meghan; and close friend, who was like a sister, Barbara Dittmer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Steve Luchies officiating. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff of both American House and Spectrum Health Hospice for the loving care and compassion shown to Rose Mary and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pet Tales Rescue or the Grandville Public Library.
