Ryan Jon Boes, age 46, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. The world was a better place with Ryan in it. People were drawn to him. His unique brand of humor. His shy chuckle. His knowing smirk. The way he loved so deeply. A mountain of a man who could be the biggest presence in the room but make whoever he was with feel like they were the most important. A mentor. A man of faith. A model for living a happy and chill life. He soothed, protected and snuggled. He loved to craft a good home brew, camp, hike, and mountain bike. He was a best friend, great listener and proud father. He was an excellent partner for a road trip, a walk around the farmers market, or kayaking down the river. He loved his fishing boat and spent many hours with his favorite people motoring around Murray Lake. He will be profoundly missed by his wife, Sara Sella; children, Ben, Gabe, Lucy, Layla and Conner; parents, Stan and Janna Boes; siblings, Matthew (Colleen) Boes, Anna (Nate) Bundy; nieces, nephew and many extended family and friends. To celebrate his extraordinary life, please join his family for a visitation on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont, MI 49316. There will also be a memorial service on Saturday, November 18, 2023, starting at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to service, from 10-11 a.m.

I worked with Ryan at Veenstras. Hard to believe that this guy was called to heaven so early in life. He had that smile and contagious laugh about him that made for good times. My sincere condolences to Sara and the kids and family's. Rest in peace Ryan till we meet again.

I was so sad to hear of Ryan’s passing. I had the privilege of hiring Ryan at Farmers Insurance in 2009. I knew immediately that he had a big heart of gold when he showed up to my moms funeral visitation after only a couple days on the job. Through the years there, I know a lot changed for him personally but I was so happy he found love with you again Sara. My deepest sympathies for you and the kids. I know the Farmers family will deeply miss him as well.

The last time I saw Ryan was at Uccellos for a retirement party - He lit up the room, and I had the pleasure of his company as we spoke about the past and enjoyed a few drinks! My heart goes out to his wife Sara and the family... He will be missed so very much!!!

Ryan. aka...Biggie Man!! I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations in our neighboring cubes. I learned a lot about you. Loved our comical "jam" saying when someone was having an issue. Loved to make you laugh because your laugh made my day. I will miss the faces you would make when we both thought something or someone was over the top. I will remember you as a great guy, good friend, a man who loved his family, loved taking his kids to school, loved his wife Sara and the fun stories of daily life. Rascal days at GR Christian. Most of all, I will miss hollering BIGGIE MAN!! across the shop and you giving me the "raise the roof" sign with the big smile. Gonna miss you around here brother. Everyone is. Love ya man!
