Sally Scheerhorn

Sally Irene Scheerhorn, age 77, of Hudsonville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She was under the care of her family and the amazing care team at Spectrum Health Hospice. Sally was a homemaker her entire married life. Some of her favorite pastimes included shopping, tending to her flowers, home decorating, and occasional trips to the casino. She also shared her husband’s passion for special interest cars. She rarely complained and had an amazing easy-going personality. The laughs and wonderful memories will be greatly missed. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Douglas Scheerhorn; children, Deborah (Will) Lukaart, Sandra (Abe) VanderKooi; grandchildren, Chase Lukaart, Carson Lukaart, Reed VanderKooi, and Rya VanderKooi; sister, Susan (Karl) Stanitzek; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale and Ernestine Scheerhorn, Tim and Judy Scheerhorn, Scott and Henri Scheerhorn; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a very special thank you to the amazing care team at Spectrum Health Hospice for their kindness, caring, and never-ending support during Sally’s lengthy home care journey. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, February 15, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
