Shawn Marie Obradovich

Shawn Marie Obradovich (Shamali), passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, April 24th, after a short, but fierce illness. Shawn is survived by her loving husband, Kris Obradovich. She is the beloved daughter of Susan & Moh’d (Mo) Shamali; cherished sister to Jenin Shamali. Loved and adored always by her two nephews and niece, Blake, Brett and Breslyn. Aunt Shawn was always eager to see them as often as she could. Shawn was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a thinker and achiever from the get-go, mastering everything she came across, except math! She graduated from Grand Rapids Community College after finishing high school with an associate degree in computer science. Shawn attended the University of South Carolina where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a BS in HR, Hotel and Restaurant Mgmt. She was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda for Interdisciplinary Studies, Arts and Sciences and awarded Outstanding Student. She was a member of the International Honor Society in Social Sciences, Pi Gamma Mu, and elected to the SC Mu chapter located at USC upstate. Shawn was inducted into the Sigma Chi Upsilon Chapter. Shawn was praised on stage at graduation for her thesis advocating for underprivileged women throughout the world to empower themselves to be equal to all aspects of life. Shawn, after being promoted, was the General Manager for Sodexo Food Services at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind where she ensured 150 meals for daily and campus students from Pre-K through High School, three nutritious meals a day. Shawn was fluent in American Sign Language and a favorite of the students. Shawn was born in Grand Rapids, MI, where she was raised by two self-driven parents who instilled within Shawn the ethics of hard work and love of family. Her story of life will be shared by all who knew her. Shawn will be missed for her smile, her strength of character, her fierce love of family and friends. Shawn is also survived by maternal grandmother, Maxine Schaaf, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind at 355 Cedar Springs Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29302 There will be a private family ceremony to celebrate the life of Shawn Shamali Obradovich. Interment will be at Pine Hill.
