Thomas Scott Vander Heuvel

November 2, 1957 ~ April 13, 2025

Thomas “Scott” Vander Heuvel, age 67, of Jenison, formerly of Hudsonville, passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, April 13, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Vander Heuvel and Marian “Pic” Webster; brother, Timothy Vander Heuvel; father-in-law, Dick Venema; sister-in-law, Sherri Snyder; and nephew, Aaron Vander Heuvel. Scott will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Laurie Venema; children, Heather and Brennan Aldrich; siblings, Barb and Paul France, Wink Vander Heuvel, Mary and Gary Markert; mother-in-law, Phyllis Venema; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Scott was a kind and generous person who often gave his time to help others. He worked with the American Legion and was the S.A.L. commander for many years. He was an excellent handyman, there was nothing that he couldn’t fix. Scott also loved being outdoors and camping, but his greatest love was U of M Football. Scott will be remembered for his big heart, his contagious laugh, his great sense of humor, and his willingness to help those in need. Funeral services will be held at 6 pm on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday from 4-6 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Mary Free Bed Foundation.
