Carl DuShane

Carl Brandon DuShane, age 45, of Allendale, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2023. He was born December 25, 1977, to Albert and Marleana DuShane. Carl graduated from Spring Lake High School and went on to enlist in the United States Army. In 2000, he married the love of his life, Shannan DuShane, and together they built a beautiful family establishing roots in Allendale. Carl enjoyed hunting, camping and was highly respected by neighbors, colleagues, and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his father, Al; and his brother, Chad. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Shannan; and their children, Alexis and Alexander Heeringa, Chase DuShane, and Alivia (Blake) DuShane. He will be kindly remembered by Dominic Mattos, who became like a son to him over years of friendship. Carl was a devoted papa to his granddaughter, Lenore, and welcomed his first grandson, Sawyer, a day before his passing. Left to treasure his memory are also his mother, Marleana (Nina); and his brother, Matt DuShane (Noah, Ryann).

Carl was the life of every family gathering and was known to make the tough moments bearable. Whether it was by cracking a joke or picking on his nieces and nephews, who adored him so. He had a heart of gold, often helping friends when they needed a hand. Carl loved the simple things in life. In his passing, we are reminded to stop and enjoy those things - whether it’s a day in the hunting blind, sitting around a campfire, or simply enjoying an occasional Jack and Coke. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and we invite you to pay your respects to the family on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 10-11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 6651 Scott St., Allendale. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to offset end of life costs.
