Craig Huizen

December 30, 1945 ~
October 4, 2022

Craig Edward Huizen, age 76, went into the arms of his Lord and Savior, on Tuesday October 4, 2022. Craig was a devoted Jesus follower and family lover, always putting those he cared for before himself. His faith was always the most important to him, it was always God first and everything else followed. He was also a very hard worker and was very dedicated to the work he did throughout his life. Ever since he was a kid, he was a part of and owned his family furniture business, Huizens Furniture, where he showed kindness to everyone who walked through the door. He loved spending summers at the cottage up North, sitting back in his recliner and reading a book, and Sundays spent watching football games and golf tournaments. Craig was a very patient and kind man and always slow to anger. He didn’t have a bad bone in his body, always showing selflessness and cracking a joke. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Harriet Huizen; his parents-in-law, Raymond and Marilyn Poll; and his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Trevor Slot. He is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife, Mary Huizen (Poll); children, Jenni and Kevin Johnson, Todd and Marissa Huizen; granddaughters, Samantha and Audrey Huizen, Katelyn and Abby Slot; siblings, Ken and Jackie Huizen, Judy Huizen; siblings-in-laws, Bob and Denise Poll, Tom and Pat Poll; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Holland Home Raybrook Manor and to Faith Hospice for all of their love and wonderful care. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 10, 2022, at 6 pm at Berkley Hills Church, 1670 Ball Ave. Grand Rapids, MI 49505 with Pastor Kyle Brown officiating. There will be a time of visitation Monday 4-6 pm, at the church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
