November 30, 2022

Daniel Spence Jackson, age 79, was ushered into heaven on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Dan was born and raised in Michigan and studied music at the University of Michigan. In his early years, he moved to New York to pursue modeling, acting and singing, eventually performing in several Off-Broadway productions. He met his wife, Kathy, later in life in Chicago. They married in 1998, in Fort Lauderdale, where they lived for the next six years before moving to Michigan to be closer to family with the birth of the first of their three grandchildren. They went on to join Chapel Pointe Church where Dan was involved in many ways including mission trips to Uganda, faithful bible study attendance, and will most be remembered for greeting at the door on Sunday mornings. He had a gift for making people feel connected and encouraged with his welcoming presence and smile. Dan used his vocal and piano talents to bless many over the years. He used his gift of music by singing in the choir at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, performing in The Messiah, and at many various special events. Some of his favorite pastimes included golf, U of M sports, and spending time with his family. Dan would describe himself as a transformed follower of Christ, saved by grace through faith and now with Him forevermore. He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Thelma Jackson; and sister, Vicki Lynas. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of over 20 years, Kathy; son, Chris (Jennifer) Mack; grandchildren, Eli, Landon, and Corinne; and brother-in-law, Roger Lynas. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. at Chapel Pointe Church, 3350 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Joel Wayne officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday, December 3, from 4-7 p.m. at Chapel Pointe Church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Barnabas Project at Chapel Pointe at https://chapel-pointe.org/dan/.
