Daniel John VenRoy, age 74, of Coopersville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at home. Dan proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. After the war, he met and married his lifelong friend, Gayle. Dan retired as sergeant after 26 years from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s department. He enjoyed his blueberry farm for his whole life. Dan also enjoyed hunting with his best friend, Harvey Veldhouse, and he was an avid Detroit Lions fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Gayle; children: Jason VenRoy (Nicole Dines), Renee and Bill Eureka, Adam and Kelly VenRoy; grandchildren: Billy Eureka (Rachel Cushway), Abby Eureka, Luke VenRoy, Lindsay VenRoy; sister, Helen and George Angone; sisters-in-law, Karen VenRoy, Mary VenRoy; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence VenRoy; brothers, Mike VenRoy and Art VenRoy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Ottawa Center Chapel, 8991 Leonard St., Coopersville, with Pastor Bob Porterfield officiating. The burial will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday or Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf, 6651 Scott St., Allendale. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coopersville Cares or Ottawa Center Chapel.
