Frances Haverdink

Frances June Haverdink, age 87, of Jenison, Michigan, peacefully went to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 21, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. Fran was born to Harry and Jennie Rillema on June 13, 1934. On March 19, 1953, she married Wayne Haverdink, with whom she shared 69 blessed years of marriage and partnership. She was a lifelong member of First Jenison CRC / Baldwin Street CRC. She enjoyed traveling, her winters in Florida, and the hours she spent in her kitchen. She will be remembered for her wonderful meals, strong faith, and tenacious spirit. Fran’s greatest joys were spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gene Rillema and George Rillema; sister, Marion VanSingel; and several in-laws. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Wayne Haverdink; children, Arlyss (Rog) VanEerden, Kirk (Kim) Haverdink, Karla (Brian) Styf, Carmen (Doug) VanNoord; grandchildren, Margo (Chad) Rhoderick, Justin (Melissa) VanEerden, Tyler (Michelle) VanEerden, Nate (Emily) Haverdink, Amber (Kyle) Grice, Kylie (Jared) Haverkamp, William Styf, Jennie (Andrew) Teijen, Emma (Brice) VanOss, Tyce VanNoord, Sydney (Anthony) Langeland, Kade VanNoord; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Annabel Rillema and Harley Rillema; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Rillema, Marian Schild, Carl (Donna) Haverdink, Ken (Cheryl) Haverdink, Gord Haverdink, Barb (Bill) Peuler, Audrey (Randy) Palmitier; and many dear friends. Although she will be missed more than words can express, she left a legacy of godliness, love, and kindness that will be celebrated by those whose life she touched. A private family graveside service will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Rev. Don Van Slyke officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the Haverdink family on Tuesday from 5:30-6:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Baldwin Street CRC‘s Mission Fund.
