Gertrude Clareen Erffmeyer

Trudy Erffmeyer was born June 25, 1941, in Prinsburg, Minnesota to Clarence & Ann (Modderman) Bolt where she grew up and graduated from Central Minnesota Christian High School. She then attended Calvin University where she met Phil Erffmeyer. They were married on August 29, 1961, in Prinsburg. During their first year of marriage they lived in Cicero, Illinois where Trudy worked as a secretary and bank teller while Phil attended graduate school. They then moved to Prinsburg where they lived for the next 52 years. During this time, Trudy worked part-time as a secretary for Marcus Construction and was an active volunteer for the school, both Christian Reformed churches, and various civic organizations. They moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2014 to spend their retirement years closer to children and grandchildren. Trudy possessed the gifts of hospitality and generosity and was deeply loved by all her family members and friends.

She is survived by her husband along with their three children and their spouses: Kenneth & Dawn Erffmeyer of Grand Rapids, Cheryl & Dale Roels of Grand Rapids, and Steven Erffmeyer & Jennifer Olson of Blaine, MN.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Kyle & Stephanie Erffmeyer (son Benjamin) of Coppell, TX, Kimberly Erffmeyer of Chicago, IL, Kayla & Nathan Zuidema, of Chicago, Il, Kristyn Erffmeyer of Grand Rapids, Amanda & John De Long (daughters Everly & Gemma) of Ada, MI, Daniel Roels & fiancée, Celia Frattarelli of Philadelphia, PA, Nathan & Ana Roels (son Samuel) of Grand Rapids, and Alyssa Roels of Seminole, FL.

Other survivors include her sister, Charlene Ter Haar, and sister-in-law Darlene Bolt; her in-laws and their spouses: Russ & Judy Erffmeyer, Drs. Marilyn & Bill Dahms, Rev. Gerald & Carol Erffmeyer, Paul & Barb Erffmeyer, and Nancy (Erffmeyer) Vander Weide.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Kelvin (twin of Kenneth), her brother, Arvid Bolt, and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Ter Haar and Harold Erffmeyer.

Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, December 4, from 2-5 pm at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the funeral home with Rev. Gerald Erffmeyer officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Calvin University or Faith Hospice.
