Gordon Longstreet

Gordon John Longstreet, age 89, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife of 69 years, Barbara; his sons, Gordon Lee and David Scot Longstreet; grandson, Jeffrey Patrick Longstreet; sister, Joyce Elaine Ballast; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Collier. It gives his family great comfort to know that he is resting in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and loved ones dearly missed.

Gord and Barb married in 1952 forming a partnership that grew stronger each year, through times of both joy and hardship. Gord’s passion for working hard and caring for those around him never wavered, even in his later years, instilling these values in the heart of his family. His charm, work ethic, and tender smile brought him success while working in retail and as the owner of Allstate Electric. Gord and Barb also enjoyed golfing together, their many winters in Florida with friends, and spending time with family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Bobbi and Dennis Hahn; daughters-in-law, Patricia and Tom Rodenhouse, and Gwen Longsteet; grandchildren, Monica and PJ Sullivan, Jennifer and Andrew Baird, Gordon D. and Taylor Longstreet, Gretchen and Dan Roodvoets, Alyssa and Sam Honderd, Patrick Longstreet, Marisa, and Rachel Hahn; great-grandchildren, Kimble, Claire, and Kate Sullivan, Annelise, and Isaac Baird, Austyn, and Asa Longstreet, Levi, Ada, Will, and Nora Roodvoets, Evie, Judah, Henry, and Isla, and Zion Honderd; brother, James and Yolande Longstreet; brother-in-law, Rod Ballast; and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville),4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Rev. Ron Baker officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, November 24 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Baldwin St. Christian Reformed Church. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the many caretakers at Sandalwood Manor in Jenison for their loving care and attention to Gord during the last couple years.
