Guendolee A. (Lee) Tubergen, age 68, was peacefully called home to glory on Tuesday morning, February 20, 2024, surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer.

A wonderful wife, a loving mother, the best grandma, sister, aunt, friend, and cousin, Lee was all of these and more. She loved her flower garden, and the absence of weeds showed it. One of her favorite parts of it was her birdbath. When she wasn’t in the garden, her face would be found behind a good book, Lee loved to read. Of all the things she loved, her family was the most important. Especially her grandboys; they were her pride and joy and she would talk your ear off about them if you gave her the opportunity. Before her first grandchild was born, she worked as a sales account clerk for Meijer for 40+ years. After learning she was going to be a grandma, she quickly set in motion the wheels of retirement.

Everyone that knew Lee knew how fierce and feisty she was. Fierce with her love, fierce with her selflessness, and a fierce fighter. She was fierce and feisty right up to the end; she wouldn’t let go until the people she loved dearest were able to say goodbye. That woman’s health had been put to the test time and time again, and every time came out “mooing” on the other side. Ask one of us about the mooing story, another testament to her fierceness and sense of humor.

Too soon, man it’s too soon, but we are thankful for the 68 years she blessed this earth. She fit 68 years into a lifetime and we are all a loving testament to who she was. She is now pain free, with her firstborn son and many others who celebrate her arrival into Jesus’s loving arms. We will miss her like crazy, but we get through this because of what she taught us. Give everyone a big hug for us. Love you!!

Lee was preceded in death by her son, Nicholas, and parents, Louis and Guendolee Andrews. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 44 years, Douglas; children, Stephanie Tubergen, Patrick and Courtney Tubergen; grandsons, Grady, Shepard, and Huck; sisters, Lorraine Andrews, Sue Youngdahl, Jeanne and Bob Rector; brothers, Frank Andrews, and Lou and MaryJo Andrews, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Corewell Health Hospice.
