On Friday, February 2, 2024, Jack Bessey Jr., aged 75, of Stanwood, gently passed away. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with his wife of 44 years, Jean; children, Jack Bessey III and spouse Ying Xu, Nicole and Daren Galinis, Nancy and Randy McCullough; adored grandchildren, Melea, Helayna, Elliana, Asher, Chloe, Brynlee; and siblings, Bob Bessey, Karen Winger. Preceding him in death were his siblings, Joan Kempema, Nancy Lewis, Richie Bessey, Billie Souls.

Jack was a proud Vietnam veteran whose bravery and service to his country will forever be remembered. Beyond his service, he was an extraordinary artist, dedicated to his craft. He specialized in creating unique knives and other pieces reflective of the frontier era, leaving a lasting impression on all who encountered his work.

A service to celebrate Jack’s life will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 9 at ResLife Church in the Rez Center through doors E or H, located at 5100 Ivanrest Ave SW, Grandville, with Rev. Joe Cottle officiating. He will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to gather in remembrance on Thursday, February 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at MKD Stegenga Funeral Home, 3131 S. Division Ave, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Roever Foundation in Jack’s memory.
