Jennie Boone, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away in her home on Friday, August 19, 2022, surrounded by family at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Clarice Hoving; sister, Sarah Feenstra; parents-in-law, Jay and Norma Boone; niece, Stephanie Sorensen; and nephew, Justice McClain. She leaves behind her husband of 48 years, Dan Boone; children, Dan Boone, Mindi Boone, Erin and Phillip Chapin, David Boone, Colleen and Derek Skeba; grandchildren, Alexis Howell, Kylie Howell, Faith Boone, Dylan Boone, Lily Chapin, Jennie Chapin, Jacoby Boone, Myrtle Boone, and Drefan Sager; among many other names of those she loved and welcomed into our family including: Stephenie Young, Sophia Noel, Sharlena McClain, and Jacob Hoving. A graduate of J Goldberg School of Nursing, Jennie practiced first as an ICU nurse, later in nursing homes, and finally as a home care nurse until retirement in 2018. A lover of flowers, she was often found in the garden especially on Saturday evenings as she gathered home grown blooms to create a bouquet for her church on Sunday. She preferred the warm weather and had an impressive collection of jackets and sweaters for all other days. Many with a Kleenex in the pocket as she was quick to show her heart with tears. We are left with a cupboard full of vases she collected so that her arrangements could be shared with members of the congregation or brought to the homes of shut-ins without their needing to return the vases. She was also a book lover and lifelong learner, often ahead of the times participating in Le Leche, interest in whole foods, and dedication to healthy eating habits. She was responsible for the homeschool education of four children as well as helping teach her youngest grandchild. A quiet life characterized with great love and a dedication to following her Faithful Savior. She created a community around her and shared her gifts freely often as a touchstone for those who were wandering. To the very end she deeply loved her husband Dan, saying through closed eyes “Where’s my Daniel. I love him.” Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Harvest Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 930 52nd St. SW, Wyoming, with Pastor Dale A. Van Dyke officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery.
