John Arthur Atchinson

John Arthur Atchinson, age 82, of Wyoming, MI passed on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Anderson, IN while visiting Anderson Speedway. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd A. Atchinson; mother, Florence M. Peska; brothers, Floyd R. Atchinson, Clair L. Atchinson; and sister, Sandra K. Douse. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Grace Diane Atchinson (Crandle); his sons, David A. (Amanda Pawson) Atchinson, James L. Atchinson; grandchildren, Jamie Haverhals, Jeff (Kirsten) Atchinson, and Judy Portner; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, JoAnn (Dan) Gort. John was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He will be remembered for his mechanical ability where he used his knowledge to run his own company, Atchinson Auto. He enjoyed spending his time visiting with others at the local food banks. John and his wife spent time traveling the U.S. to watch dirt track racing. He was very outgoing and made friends with everyone he came in contact with. John had a loving disposition and adventurous spirit. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, June 8, from 2-5 p.m. at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave, Wyoming.
