John Henry VandenBroek, age 68, of Grandville, gracefully slipped away while surrounded by those closest to him at his home on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
John was a man of many skills and talents who pursued his interests with passion. He had a successful career with numerous awards and recognition for his work over the years. John was able to build many friendships through his working career as well. He liked traveling, going to the cabin up north, hunting, fishing with his buddies, and just being outdoors in general. John loved eating and always looked forward to his next meal. He also enjoyed NASCAR, puzzles, building/flying model airplanes, and astrology. John’s jovial spirit will be dearly missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Coby VandenBroek; and father-in-law, Robert Lindeman. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Tammie VandenBroek; children, Andrea McFarland, Derek VandenBroek, Joshua and Katelyn Tomaszewski, Zachary and Hayley Tomaszewski, Lucas and Amelia McFarland; grandchildren, Collin, Isla, Lachlan, Riley and Carter, Presley, Henry, Madeline; sisters, Carol and Joe Cole, Linda and Tim Herron; dogs, Dakota Mae and Rocket; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Chris Wirgau officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
