Our precious Nicholas James Dell-Eikhoff, age 12, of Jenison, Michigan, passed away suddenly on March 1, 2024. He was born on December 26, 2011, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Nicholas is survived by his father, David Eikhoff; and mother, Amber and Michael Pattok of Jenison; his younger brother, Hudson Pattok; his grandparents, Mark and Kelly Dell of Jenison, Rob and Melinda Grove of Grandville, Thomas and Carrie Pattok of Grand Rapids; his great-grandmother, JoAnn Cook of Mt. Pleasant; his uncles and aunts, Eric and Kristen Dell of Kentwood, Jason and Amanda Pattok of Byron Center; his cousins, Liam Dell, Keegan, Lillian, Connor, and Tyler Pattok.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Joan Barnhart Dell, Thomas Cook, Lewis Dell, Victor and Suzanne Lefers; and his great-uncle, Douglas Barnhart.

Nicholas worshiped at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Grandville, MI, and attended Sandy Hill Elementary School for his primary education. His classroom “framily” was of most importance to him where his mom and Hudson were the topic of most writing assignments and his favorite thing to talk about was Hudson. Mrs. Bremer, Nicholas’ gift of a teacher, described him as “one of the best hearts I know” and commented on his master negotiating skills.

The best word to describe Nicholas would be fierce. He had fierce determination, he was a fierce protector, and he loved so fiercely. His fierce excitement for his Unified Basketball Team and Baseball Team and fierce enjoyment from playing video games goes unmatched. He also loved riding horses, and summers camping with his family and friends at the family campground on Hardy Dam. He loved going to Silver Lake for dune rides, Craig’s Cruisers, and The Harlem Globetrotters with his dad, Dave. Nicholas enjoyed many things in life, but his true loves were his family, specifically his baby brother, Hudson, his very best friend.

Nicholas’ infectious laugh and fierce love will forever be missing from our hearts.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, from 6-8 pm with a Rosary at 8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 11 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville. An additional hour of visitation will be held at the church starting at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Renew Therapeutic Riding Center in Holland, Michigan.
