Raymond George Peterson, aged 86, of Grandville, MI entered his eternal home with Jesus on October 24, 2024. He died peacefully in his home surrounded by family. He was born to the late George and Mildred Peterson on September 21, 1938 in Grand Rapids. Ray’s life was exemplified by a strong commitment to Christ and family. He had a passion for Chris-Craft boats and taking his family out on the plentiful lakes of Michigan, particularly the Les Cheneaux Islands in the Upper Peninsula. He loved camping and fishing with many rustic family vacations exploring the natural beauty of Michigan and across the US. A builder by trade, he could build anything. He also loved to farm the land and taught his family to be strong hard workers. He instilled the love for the Lord in all of us and will be greatly missed, but we now have a stubborn angel looking over us.
He was married to his wife, Dottie Peterson, for 63 years and they raised three children: Shelly Gutierrez, Paul (Mandy) Peterson, and Jill Peterson. He was a cherished grandfather to Alexa, Jacob, and Zachary Gutierrez, Drew Gorter, and Gabrielle (Robert) Ruiz; great-granddaughters, Camille, Ryan, and a great-grandson on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Jansen, Marilyn Dunn, and Jim (Barbara) Peterson. He joins his brother, Donny Peterson, in heaven.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A private graveside service will be held.
