Rev. James Molenbeek

Rev. James Alvin Molenbeek, age 73, of Grandville, went to be with his Lord and Savior and friend on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 after a year-long battle with cancer. Dedicating his whole life to ministry, he continued to minister to his family and caregivers even up to his final hours. Jim was a minister in the Christian Reformed Church and served congregations with quiet strength and humility in Luctor, Kansas; Salt Lake City, Utah; Howard City, Michigan; Muskegon, Michigan; and Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also served as a chaplain through the Sunset Association and Emmanuel Hospice. He was a faithful husband, dedicated father, and beloved grandfather who will be dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Sue Molenbeek; children and grandchildren, Daniel and Julie Molenbeek (Natalie, Megan), Matthew Molenbeek (Victoria) and Beth Steimel, Cheryl and Philip Puite (Elise, Josiah), Timothy and Lindsay Molenbeek (Lucy, Charles, Lane); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack and Ginny Kramer, Karen and Jim Hoekstra; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. at LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 107 LaGrave Ave SE, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Peter Jonker and Rev. Kristy Manion officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, April 25, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Emmanuel Hospice.
