Royal “Roy” DeBoer, age 77, of Belmont died peacefully from Alzheimer’s complications and received his eternal reward when he was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 12, 2023. He was born February 7, 1945 and was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Nellie DeBoer; sister-in-law, Jane DeBoer; brother-in-law, Gary Devos; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Julie Schambach. Roy was a loving, kind, generous man. The family lost someone very special and he will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Patricia; children, Christopher (Danielle) DeBoer, Tricia Feenstra (partner, Rick Bartz), Joel (Holly) DeBoer; grandchildren, Mick, Katie, Samantha, Hannah, Graham, Abigayle DeBoer, Tyler and Paige Feenstra; great granddaughter, Kiani Thompson: brother, Zane (Debbi) DeBoer, Ted (Judy) DeBoer; sister, Val DeVos, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Sharon Schambach; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Roy graduated from Lee School and later was employed by Steelcase for 33 years. He then retired to work in the family business, DeBoer Realty, for 16 years with his wife, Pat. He had many interests and talents including hunting, fishing, scuba diving, sharp shooting, golf, bowling, taxidermy, landscape designing, carpentry, coaching, brother and sister poker games, an occasional casino trip, traveling, southern winter vacations, and most of all spending time with the family especially enjoying his kids and grandkids sporting events and activities. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 11 am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 6390 Belmont Ave NE. with Father Larry King officiating. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 4 -7 pm at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1609 Post Drive NE, Belmont, and Tuesday 10 -11 am at the church.
