Samuel J. Van Der Wiele

Samuel J. Van Der Wiele, age 89, of Jenison, went to be with his faithful Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 1, 2022. He was born on October 23, 1932. Sam worked most of his career at Martin Tool & Die in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In his retirement, he volunteered at Unity Christian High School in the Industrial Arts Program. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Louann Van Der Wiele. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary (Morren) Van Der Wiele; their children, John (Laurel), Dave (Ruth), and Bob (Kim) Van Der Wiele; son-in-law, James Martin; grandchildren, Rachel (Mike) Goorhouse, Julie (Lamar) Brown, Heidi Martin, Andrew (Jenni) Martin, Adam (Aliesha) Baker, Amanda (Blake) Vander Veen; along with nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence and Charles Van Der Wiele; brothers-in-law, Jim Morren and Don (Lois) Morren; sisters-in-law, Wilma (Cornelius) Bykerk and Norma (Harry) Vriend. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St., Jenison. The burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday, September 6, from 5-7 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
