March 20, 2023

Thomas James Weemhoff, age 76, of Jenison, passed peacefully at his home into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 20, 2023. He will be remembered as a humble servant as he served his wife, Jo, and family for 51 years, his church and his country as a US Army Veteran. He faithfully and quietly served as a deacon and an elder at Ridgewood CRC where he has been a member for 50 years. A man of integrity, and attention to detail, many were honored to work alongside Tom at Godwin Plumbing, from which he retired after 27 years. Tom enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, especially to see waterfalls. Tom had a hobby of woodworking and would say that he was a “rough carpenter not a finish carpenter” as he made many things with his hands. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and will be greatly missed because of his love for his family, his integrity, and for being a great example of what it looks like to follow Jesus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jane Weemhoff, brother, Richard Weemhoff Jr. and sisters, Marcia Rewa and Susan Weemhoff. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Jo; children: Jane and Brent Ackerman, Dave and Karla Weemhoff, Maria and Rod VandenBerg, Karen and Mat Wedeven; grandchildren: Kassidy and Zach Zander, Annie and Chris Beezhold, Chloe Weemhoff, Zander Weemhoff, Jake VandenBerg, Sam VandenBerg and Karli VandenBerg, Tyler Ackerman, Rylee Ackerman, Scarlett Wedeven, Jade Wedeven; siblings, Dale and Flo Weemhoff, Sandy Weemhoff, Jim and Marilyn Rewa, Lori and Curtis Alford; many brothers and sisters-in- law, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, March 23 at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St. Jenison with Pastor Tom Pettinga, Pastor Cindy Holtrop, and Pastor Dave Weemhoff officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, March 22 from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, as well as an hour prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Alliance Defending Freedom.
