Troy Allen Hoogstra

November 24, 1973 ~
October 27, 2024

Troy Allen Hoogstra, age 50, of Grand Rapids, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 27, 2024. He was not just a husband and father; he was the heart of his family, a devoted son, a loyal brother, and a steadfast friend.

Troy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing and golfing and he always knew where to find the best local Chinese spots.  Troy dedicated over twenty years of his life to SiteOne Landscape Supply where his passion for the industry inspired those around him and left a lasting legacy within the community.

During his 21 years of marriage to Alicia, Troy’s unwavering support and reliability meant she could always count on him to be there no matter the circumstances.

As a father, Troy was constantly present in his children’s lives.  He was instrumental in molding Kelly, Katey, and Tristen into who they are today. Troy cheered them on at every sporting event, and choir concert, and was the first to celebrate his children’s accomplishments. You could always count on him for a hilarious dad joke or a strong, comforting embrace.

He was preceded in death by his cherished grandparents, John and Phyllis Hoogstra; and Duke and Helen Molenkamp. It is an understatement to say that Troy will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Alicia Hoogstra; his children, Kelly Newland, Katey (Jesse) Boven, and Tristen Settle; his parents, Hook and Carol Hoogstra; his brother, Jeff Hoogstra; his close uncle, Lynn Molenkamp; and his beloved dog, Charlie.

A memorial service to celebrate Troy’s life will be held at 1 PM on Monday, November 11th, at Ada Bible Church, located at 2045 68th St SE, Caledonia, MI 49316. Visitation will begin at 12 PM, allowing family and friends to gather and share their love and memories before the service. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to enjoy a meal together and continue sharing stories in Troy’s honor. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Troy’s legacy may contribute to Ada Bible Church.
