Trudy Hekman

Trudy Kathrine Hekman, age 77, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Willemina Hekman. She is survived by her sister, Willene (Ed) Den Haan of Guelph, Ontario Canada; nephews, David (Connie) Den Haan, Michael (Christy) den Haan; nieces, Stephanie Den Haan, and Deborah (Jon) Doorn; grandnieces and grandnephews, Rachel (Matthew) Lenko, Laura (Nate) De Vries, Adam Den Haan, Simon den Haan, Eric, Sophia, and Emma Doorn. Trudy was employed for many years in the furniture industry, and later in life she was employed by Visiting Angels as a home healthcare worker. She enjoyed caring for the elderly, and had a gift for sharing stories. In years gone by she loved volunteering for the Sunday School program at Sherman Street CRC, where she attended for much of her life. A service to celebrate Trudy’s life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Fairway Christian Reformed Church, 1165 44th Ave., Jenison, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Lake Public Radio, which was always on at Trudy’s house. The family is grateful for the care she received at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods.
