Vicki Apel

March 4, 1973 ~
July 12, 2022

Vicki (Vanden Hoek) Apel, age 49, was welcomed home with open and loving arms by her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. Vicki was married to her very grateful and blessed husband, Nate Apel, of 15 years, in June of 2007. Vicki was a loving and devoted mother to two wonderful girls, Brianna (13), and Ava (11). Vicki was the precious daughter of Daryl and Diane Vanden Hoek; and the sister of her very fortunate, yet loving brother, Dale Vanden Hoek. Vicki was the beloved daughter-in-law of Craig and Pat Apel, as well as the sister-in-law to Trish Apel, and Chip and Rebecca Schafran. Vicki was also blessed with the gift of being an aunt to many nieces and nephews, and was surrounded by an amazing support network of friends and co-workers.

During her time here, Vicki taught 7th grade English for 23 years at Allendale Public Schools. Vicki also had a strong love for the water and taught swim lessons to many children over the years. Vicki cared deeply for her students and loved what she did. To say Vicki was an avid book reader would be an understatement. She loved books and it was very rare if she didn’t have one or multiple within arm’s reach. Vicki was known for her “addiction” to Coca-Cola and her love of Snickers as well.

Vicki was surrounded by loved ones as she ascended from earth into heaven on July 12, 2022, at 12:30 a.m.

Visitation will be held at Wellspring Community Church, 4466 Bauer Rd., Hudsonville, MI, on Saturday July 23, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. - noon and 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. A celebration of life ceremony will follow on the 23rd at 4:30 p.m. at the church.

Apel may be made to Holland Home / Faith Hospice, Attention: Gerilyn May / Development – Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook SE, Suite 300, Grand Rapids, MI, 49546.
