Willard “Stub” Longsdorf

Willard (Stub) Longsdorf, age 91, of Grandville, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carmen, and brother, sisters, and in-laws, Carol (Longsdorf) and Albert Scott, George and Bette Longsdorf, Doris (Longsdorf) and Sam Levandowski, Richard and Yvonne Dowson. Stub will be lovingly remembered by his children, Susan and Dave Roberts, Amy and Bob Storrer; grandchildren, Libbie and Matt Rauhauser, Emily and Jay Roane, Katie and Aaron Laatsch, Natalie and Scott Dion, and Madeleine and Jared Ridge; great-grandchildren, Henry Willard and Eloise Roberts Roane, Blakely Elizabeth Rauhauser; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Stub was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Stub had the biggest heart, he was kind and generous with his time and love, always ready to help others. Stub’s cheerful personality and sense of humor always shone through in his banter with those he cared for most. Stub worked for Barnes Construction Company from 1955 until he retired to enjoy Thursday morning breakfast club, golf with his buddies, trips to Treasure Island and cheering for his granddaughters at their sporting events. Stub enjoyed working in his large vegetable garden and spent much time deer hunting and fishing with friends and family. Stub was a life-long lover of many sports – football, baseball, basketball and whatever sports his granddaughters participated in. Stub was an avid fan of the Spartans, Lions, Tigers and the Grandville Bulldogs. The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Grand Village Assisted Living for their kindness and loving care. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Grandville United Methodist Church, 3140 Wilson Ave. SE, Grandville, with Rev. Ryan Wieland officiating. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday, October 5 from 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and Thursday from 10:00-10:45 at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grandville High School Athletic Boosters or Neal Fonger American Legion Post 179.
