Zachary Steven Jones

September 7, 2022

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our son, Zachary “Zach” Steven Jones, age 28 of Sparta, who passed away tragically on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Zach was a kind and loving father, son, brother, and friend with a huge heart, which he wore on his sleeve. His tender heart, spirit, and love of helping others was evident to all who knew him. He was the kind of friend that would do anything for you, no matter how tired he was, or how much he was hurting both inside and out. Zach had a smile that would just light up a room when he was happy, and the one thing in life that made him happy above all else, was his daughter Natalie. She was his world, and he enjoyed every moment he could making memories with her. He was a graduate of Sparta High School and Columbia Southern University where he studied Fire Science. Zach became a Firefighter & EMT at both Sparta and Wyoming Fire Departments. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, boating, and riding his Harley, as well as playing golf with his friends and his daughter. He enjoyed all types of sports, but especially football. He was a diehard Lions Fan, and we as a family used to watch every Sunday together when he lived at home. Even though his life here on earth was much too short, we are incredibly proud of the man and father he was. Zach walked through difficult earthly struggles, but we know he is now free of his suffering and pain. He will be forever missed by his family, girlfriend, and all who loved him. Our hearts are broken and will never be the same. Zach will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Natalie; his parents, Mary Anne and Joe Zimmerman; his siblings, Adam (Katie) Jones, Ashley (Sarah) Jones; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins; his girlfriend, Hailey Love; his best friends, Rob (Amanda) Peck and their children, Raleigh and Kole. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 am at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont with Pastor Larry Young officiating. Burial Elmwood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-8 pm at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, and also from 10-11 prior to the service on Thursday. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the care and needs for his daughter, Natalie.
